Elena Mazzi

Biography

Elena Mazzi was born in 1984 in Reggio Emilia (Italy). Lives and works in Turin (Italy) and Nice (France). Starting from the examination of specific territories, in her works, she reinterprets the cultural and natural heritage of places, interweaving stories, facts and fantasies handed down by local communities, in order to suggest possible resolutions to the human being-nature-culture conflict. Elena Mazzi’s work has been presented in numerous institutions including Luleå Biennale, Sweden (2022). der TANK, Switzerland (2022). BIENALSUR, Argentina (2021). Sonje Art Center, South Korea (2017). 16th Rome Quadriennale (2016). 14th Istanbul Biennial, Turkey (2015).

Flumen

During my residency, I will investigate and explore the territory of Rijeka and its surrounding, taking into consideration the historical aspect of a city that has been part of several governments. The relation with the water and the port will be at the core of my research, stressing the importance of this infrastructure in the international relations. I will work interdisciplinary, as I often do I my work, to collect different kinds of information and points of view, to be then edited in several forms.
