Walk-performance, mobile exhibition and conversation. Departure from the Darna association to the Art Explora Village. A restitution of works produced in workshop during the week with association Darna. Organic Knowledge is an art and research project that aims to create a collaborative archive of the cultural practices of under-represented communities in Morocco through artistic residencies and workshops. Organic Knowledge asks questions about the ethics and methodology of working with populations that are victims of systemic violence, and how their marginalized cultural practices can redefine dominant narratives about migration by providing a more accurate picture of these populations. For this edition of Art Explora, The Minority Globe proposes a mobile exhibition and performances between the city and the agora, conceived during a new creative workshop in Tangier.

Organic Knowledge is an art and research project that aims to build a collaborative archive documenting the cultural practice of under-represented communities in the Maghreb, through the organization of artistic residencies and creative workshops.

Organic Knowledge raises central questions, such as: what ethics and methodology are needed to work with and learn from populations suffering systemic violence? How can marginalized cultural practices help invent new narratives that challenge dominant discourses? How can extreme living and adaptation practices help to invent a more inclusive and just society?

For this year's edition of Art Explora, The Minority Globe is offering a week-long series of events highlighting the action-research methodology at the heart of Organic Knowledge. A creative workshop brings together local communities in Tangier who experience displacement and exclusion on a daily basis. Artistic and creative practice, both collective and individual, is enshrined as a fully-fledged research tool in the service of resilience, catharsis and protest. In these exchanges, the photographic medium will be privileged. The workshop provides a platform for reflection over the course of a few days, from which a series of public events will take place on Wednesday, September 25, starting at 5 p.m.: a restitution in the form of a mobile exhibition in the city, a public presentation with The Minority Globe team to discuss the project, and a performance by artist Yemoh777s.

Maude Houssais

Maud Houssais is an independent researcher and curator based in Rabat, Morocco. She is particularly interested in the emergence of a visual culture applied to the city, and the resulting collaborative practices between artistic disciplines and communities. Recent exhibitions include: Re-imagi(nations), solo show by Yemoh777s, Mahal Art Space and Kulte Contemporary Art Center, 2023-24 and as associate curator, The Casablanca Art School. Platforms and Patterns for a Postcolonial Avant-Garde 1962-1987, presented at Sharjah Art Foundation and Schirn Kunsthalle, Frankfurt, 2024.

Yemoh777

Yemoh Odoi is an artist and cultural activist from Accra (Ghana). Since the late 1990s, he has been observing and acting on migration between Morocco and Senegal. Having experienced the migration routes himself, he became involved with a number of NGOs. Noting that aid programs ignore cultural specificities and the role of art in healing the traumas of the migratory experience, he founded The Minority Globe association in 2009. His association aims to fill this gap by integrating art into support for migrants.
