Thanks to her voice, to instruments such as the Jew's harp, the tambourine, the guitar, the harmonic flute, but also through the accomplished use of electronic machines, loop stations and others, Rachele Andrioli calls ancestral rituals, which carry the listener to suggestive and colorful elsewhere, where an inventive polyphony seems to spring forth in an unexpected, urgent, alive Salento.
In her live concert “Leuca" Rachele Andrioli is on stage alone. All the attention is focused on the voice, on the musical instruments used (drums, Jew's harp, guitar, harmonic flute) and on the skillful use of electronics (through bases and loop stations).
An original repertoire, a synthesis of tradition and innovation, accompanies the audience in an ancestral ritual that has its generating location in a finibus terrae point: the Capo di Leuca, the starting and returning point of the stories sung by Rachele. Leuca is the key word, the gesture that orients, the gaze that looks inside, a continuous search in her own land.
Rachele proposes the songs of her very recent album and that special repertoire of songs from border lands where creative polyphony seems to spring directly from these extreme places, staging an unexpected, urgent, alive Salento. The show is a synthesis of innovation and tradition. It is a tribute to popular music and the Mediterranean, to the most distant influences and to the voice as the only flag, using the end of her homeland, Capo di Leuca, as a starting point.
Rachele is also the creator of the community choral project Coro a Coro, which currently welcomes many women, of different ages and origins, in a social polyphonic laboratory and connects the concept of gender to multiculturalism.
