Dardan Zhegrova - Lucky Pierre, Just from behind

Performance
Adults

Lucky Pierre is an ongoing performance series exploring intimacy, desire, and connection through a persona caught between giving and receiving, exposure and control. Inspired by queer slang, the character embodies duality, both active and passive, performing and being performed upon. Each episode unfolds through poetry, voice, movement, and sound, with a mask and costume serving as transformative tools that conceal and reveal. The work creates a space where personal experience and theatrical expression merge in a continuous negotiation of roles.

Lucky Pierre is an ongoing performance series built around a persona that exists in a continuous state of giving and receiving, simultaneously active and passive, exposed yet in control. Rooted in personal experience, the performances navigate themes of intimacy, desire, and the ways we connect with others.

Each performance, or episode, explores a specific experience through poetry, voice, movement, and sound. Lucky Pierre’s mask and costume are not just aesthetic choices but essential tools for transformation—concealing and revealing, constructing a presence that is both intimate and theatrical.

Dardan Zhegrova

Dardan Zhegrova (b.1991) is a Prishtina based artist whose works are object- and performance-oriented. Most often based on poems that always stand at the beginning of the conception of a new piece, his texts deal with partially fictional and actually experienced events, mostly described from a first-person perspective. Often, an (imaginary) counterpart, whom the artist seeks, is addressed. There are no pronouns like "her" and "him"—the narrative unfolds between "I" and "You." Here, the boundary between the artist’s subject and the addressed person often seems to blur.

This dissolution of the boundaries of a classical narrative form is also reflected in the structure of time within the poems, where future, present, and past frequently merge. This breaking down of various boundaries in Zhegrova’s work also reflects his queer identity, which oscillates between female and male attributes, deliberately rejecting and transcending a normative understanding of gender.
