A few words about the exhibition ELLES! Women Artists in the Collections of the Museums of Marseille

Like a mirror of society, art has long denied women and women creators their rightful place. Until the 19th century, women were excluded from learning the art of painting and sculpture. And while some women artists have managed to make a career for themselves, often fighting against their own society, art history has often erased them. Celebrating their imprint on the history of creation, publicizing their major works and recognizing them as equal to men is today's challenge for museums worldwide!

The new exhibition at the Préau des Accoules pays tribute to them. More broadly, it aims to question the question of women's rights, the fight for gender equality and the defense of free access to creation for all.

Le Préau des Accoules - Musée des enfants is a place for raising awareness of the arts and heritage.

The Le Préau team designs and produces fun exhibitions that offer an original approach to art objects. The program, which focuses primarily on discovering the heritage of Marseille's museums, covers a wide range of themes: archaeology, regional heritage, history, photography, fine art, African and American culture, contemporary art... Groups and individuals are invited to discover the museum's exhibits through activities and workshops.
