To coincide with the Cities theme week of the Dubai World Expo, Art Explora is exhibiting works by eight internationally renowned French artists. Questioning the place of ecosystems in the urban environment, these works are presented simultaneously in several urban spaces, in Dubai as well as in Paris, in order to share the World Expo's artistic program with as many people as possible.

Aeonium, 2021

Presented in the Palais Royal - Musée du Louvre metro station and in front of the France Pavilion at the Dubai World Expo.

Nothing begins nothing ends, everything is welcome, 2021

Work presented in front of the French Pavilion at the Dubai World Expo and on Jumeirah Road in Dubai.

Aeonium is a plant that retains water, stores it in its immense reserves and then uses it sparingly, only when necessary. This is why it is considered a learned plant. These poems are the teachings of the wise Aeonium as they can be heard when someone approaches it without arrogance, or simply falls asleep beside it. Its star-shaped leaves are so beautiful they could be mistaken for a flower, a sea creature or the beginning of the universe. This is how plants know and flowers speak...

The artist's biography

Alex Cecchetti was born in Terni (Italy) in 1977, and lives and works between Paris and London. Alex Cecchetti is an artist, poet, gardener and choreographer. Difficult to classify, his work can be considered the art of the unrepresentable: tactile and poetic, aesthetic and materialist, he creates mental and physical environments in which spectators are often part of the work. He sees his exhibitions as celebrations of nature, and his performances as incantations. Alex Cecchetti has exhibited his work in France and abroad, most recently with a monumental installation and performance at Maxxi, Rome (2021), a solo show at Casa da Cerca, Almada (2021) and a double solo show with Laure Prouvost at Netwerk, Aalst (2020).
