Available in French and English, and designed for use on computer, mobile or tablet, Art Explora Academy offers 13 original learning paths, as well as a media library with a wealth of video and audio content for in-depth study of the major concepts in art history.

Art Explora Academy has launched its app on 19 April on iOS and Android.

The 13 learning paths :

11 micro-learning courses have been designed in conjunction with Sorbonne-Université's Art History faculty.

  • Asian art
  • Egypt and Mesopotamia
  • Islamic art
  • African arts
  • Arts of the Americas

Each course is made up of 4 parts, offering an experience that lasts approximately 40 minutes. Users can stop and restart as they please, in order to progress at their own pace.

Each part has the following structure:

  • An introduction to the topic in a short video
  • A sequence of 5 to 7 key points (text + visual format)
  • A practice quiz, in order to assimilate the concepts dealt with
  • A suggestion of videos and podcasts from the media library to watch / listen to in order to go into more detail in the concepts dealt with

A big quiz of 12 questions then concludes each course. Once the badges for the 11 courses have been obtained, the user is awarded their Art Explora certificate validated by Sorbonne-University.

‍In about 8 hours of micro-learning, it is therefore possible to master the main concepts of art history.

Women in Art in the Mediterranean:

To coincide with the Art Explora Festival, the museum boat presents an exhibition on female figures in the Mediterranean, with the exceptional collaboration of the Musée du Louvre. How are women represented in the arts? What clichés are (too) often associated with them? And what role do they play in creation? To find out, take a look at our 4-part tour of Mediterranean countries for a journey through time and culture!

The Art of Everyday Life :

From 17th-century Dutch painting to contemporary art, let yourself be carried away by the artists who reenchant our everyday lives in unexpected ways! The "Art of Everyday Life" trail is perfect for enriching your knowledge and reminding you that art is all around you. Produced as part of the exhibition "Soup, Socks and Spiders: Art of the Everyday", presented on board the Mobile Art Explora Museum in spring 2024, in collaboration with Tate and MuMo. This exhibition brought together works of art from the Tate collection around the theme of still life and everyday objects.

The media library:

Art Explora Academy also features a wide range of videos and podcasts on art history, artists and their work.

With more than 1600 free videos and podcasts in French and English, the offer is continuously expanded, including a series of new programs co-produced by Art Explora.

The videos and podcasts provide an offbeat approach to art history, artists, and their works, and are produced by cultural institutions, YouTubers, independent podcasters, as well as public and private broadcasters. They are available on Art Explora Academy’s website and app.

Weekly curated playlists explore the history of art from an unconventional angle, often inspired by topical events. On the occasion of the 59th Venice Art Biennale in April 2022, Art Explora Academy offered its users a playlist that briefly explains the key elements of contemporary art.
The app also features customized playlists in connection with other Art Explora initiatives, such as the tour of the MuMo (Mobile Museum).
