Sono Mayrit
Sono Mayrit is a record and tape collector specializing in the music of the Western Mediterranean, with a particular focus on the links and influences between Andalusian and North African music. The project's name reflects the Arab past of the artist's native Madrid, a metropolis shaped by centuries of cultural exchange. In particular, it highlights the Andalusian heritage of flamenco, which shares a common history and musical vocabulary with Moroccan and Algerian music. Disco Atlas is a musical project initiated in Rabat in 2019, born of a deep passion for the rich and diverse musical traditions of Morocco and North Africa. With a mission to revive and reinterpret these sonic treasures, Disco Atlas combines traditional rhythms with modern influences. It presents and performs a selection of music discovered through exhaustive research, ranging from the rustic, evocative melodies of Ayta to the pulsating rhythms of the region's electronic music.
