Gossips. Bar Tore Confidential is a large curtain created by artist Mikołaj Sobczak for Bar Tore, conceived as the backdrop for an ongoing theatrical performance. Extending his exploration of queer migration, exile and underground networks, Sobczak weaves together personal and historical encounters, using gossip as a fleeting but powerful means of building community and rewriting the past.
In Gossips. Bar Tore Confidential, the artist revisits, encounters and reimagines the stories of Andrei Korlialov, Suzette Robichon, Eva Kotchever, Hella Olstein, Józef Czapski, Mikołaj Nowak-Rogoziński, Sergey Nabokov, D Harding, Wojciech Karpiński and Colette Laumière as friends, artists and historical figures, living or deceased. Drawing on history and personal narratives, their stories unfold in fragmented recollections, shaping an erratic navigation of the world and embracing the ephemeral nature of everyday life.
