Southway Studio, founded in 2018 by art historian, artist and curator Emmanuelle Luciani, is a Marseille-based art production, exhibition and artistic residency ecosystem. For Art Explora, Southway Studio and Emmanuelle Luciani propose a program based on the legendary Olympique de Marseille soccer club. The exhibition looks back at the history of soccer and Marseille, and combines historical objects and contemporary works in an installation at the Southway Pavilion, featuring works by Émile Barret and Bella Hunt & Dante Di Calce inspired by soccer, fan culture and the OM.

Round table speakers :

Emmanuelle Luciani: Artist-curator and independent artistic director, Emmanuelle Luciani creates hybrid universes, between high culture and popular culture, from medieval art to soccer and tuning. She focuses her methodology on modes of production and formal resurgences in art history, in the tradition of Aloïs Riegl and Heinrich Wölfflin. In 2018, she founded Southway Studio, an ecosystem for artistic creation, which she is extending within the Pavillon Southway, opening in 2020 in Marseille. At the same time, she teaches social history of art at Sciences Po Aix and collaborates with Beaux-Arts de Paris, Arts Décoratifs and Nicolas Bourriaud's MO.CO.

Jean-Louis Pacull: Marseille correspondent for Radio France, TF1 and Libération, then RTL's chief reporter until 2017, Jean-Louis Pacull covered OM news and matches from 1982 to 2016. In 2021, he will publish "L'OM est à nous! Anthropologie d'une passion populaire", with Alain Hayot.

Eric di Meco: a former footballer, he joined OM in 1980, where he played for 14 years. He also played for the French national team from 1988 to 1996. He became OM's sporting director in 2000, then city councillor in 1995 and deputy sports director at Marseille city hall until 2007. He has been a sports consultant since 2007, broadcasting on RMC, BFM TV, beIN and M6.

Valeilles Dufaure de Montmirail: great-grandson of René Dufaure de Montmirail, founder of OM. He is a biographer and archivist of his ancestor's work and of OM's origins.

Fabien Fragione: A passionate supporter of OM and Marseille, he has been the manager of the group IAM since 1996, an artist agent in the music industry and creator of the Al-Khemya pool of film music producers. He has produced several albums ("Chiens de Paille", "Psy4 de la rime"...) and worked for five years with composer Bruno Coulais on soundtracks such as "Les Choristes" and "Les Rivières Pourpres".

Bella Hunt & Dante Di Calce

The Franco-American duo's sculptures are historical fantasies and uchronies, building bridges between art history and pop culture, at the crossroads of classical culture, science fiction and sport. For the exhibition, they propose a series of sculptures, visual rereadings of the sports trophy.

Emile Barret

Born the same year as the World Wide Web, Emile explodes the boundaries of classical photography by exploring total art forms such as video games. In 2023, he was invited to take up a residency at Pavillon Southway, where he researched and produced works based on the graves of Marseille supporters and funeral tributes. He is currently producing prints on textiles, jerseys and aluminum for the exhibition.

SAMSON

is an electronic musician, producer and DJ based in Paris. He has performed internationally at institutions such as the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, Madison Square Garden in New York, Art Basel Miami, as well as renowned clubs Pompon in Paris and Moustache Monday in Los Angeles.
